Leading on the glass sector’s 2050 Net Zero Strategy working with the UK Government and stakeholders to develop the opportunities and technology to reduce the CO2 impact from the glass manufacturing process. Supporting activity on energy efficiency, waste policy, recycling policy, food contact material legislation, product development and innovation, glass standards to name a few. An expert in the sustainability of packaging, flat and fibre glass supporting the whole of the glass supply chain with expertise in waste collection, recycling, net zero strategy, energy efficiency, decarbonised energy, furnace technology etc.Working with external stakeholders on developing supportive policies for the glass supply chain such as key evidence to government for packaging reform including circular economy, DRS, EPR and Consistency of Collections to maximise collection and recycling of glass, resulting in the exclusion of glass from DRS in England and Northern Ireland.

I have over 30 years’ experience in glass products and manufacture and lead and support the technical team within Glass Technology Services. The technical team includes over 30 glass experts and technologists, delivering technical, commercial and environmental services to the international glass supply sector including the pharmaceutical, architectural, automotive, furniture, packaging, fibre, optical, domestic and technical glasses and support the whole glass supply chain including raw material suppliers, glass manufacturers, packer/fillers, brand owners, retail, construction companies, architects, designers, property management, waste management companies and glass processors. I am an expert on glass product development to minimise environmental impact during products, ensure the product is fit for purpose and end of life options. Undertaking technical and capability audits of glass production facility including filling/packing lines and secondary processing of flat glass for architectural and automotive applications to ensure that the product is manufactured to the required specification and is suitable for its intended propose. I have project managed initiatives to minimise the environmental impact of glass packaging for the food and drinks sector and architecture glass.I am expert on flat (architectural and automotive) glass installations and failures including stress measurements, inclusion failures, installation damage and consumer damage.I am expert on the glass melting process including furnace technology, glass & batch compositions, refractories, emissions and glass quality.I am a trained and experienced Expert Witness undertaking cases for all types glass products and glass manufacturing processes for both criminal and civil cases.As a Chartered Engineer I am an expert on waste glass collection, waste recovery, recycling, reuse, LCAs, emission control, carbon footprinting and resource efficiency.
