Making an impact by using data. This is what I am trying to achieve. I believe that organizations who use data effectively have a much richer understanding of the need of their customers. Disruptors such as Amazon, Uber, and Airbnb all have data in their digital DNA. My goal is to bring this disruptive data power to other organizations as well. To show companies how they can create impact by using data, Jan and I started SquareMoon. We see that organizations make a lot of assumptions on a daily base. By using data we can tackle a lot these assumptions. This will lead to improved decision-making capabilities. We understand that data is a means to an end. Therefore we don’t just create dashboards and plots, we transform data into insights. We believe this is the way organizations can really grow.Before we started SquareMoon I worked at Storm Digital as a data analyst. During this period I really discovered the impact that data can make. We worked on products such as budget attribution, omnichannel integration, and advertising optimization. At Storm I had the opportunity to work with remarkable clients such as Volkswagen, Exact, and Achmea. During my master marketing intelligence at the RUG I learned how to do proper statistical analysis and controlled experiments. On top of the regular program, I participated in the big data learning community. In this community, we worked on complex data projects for real companies. The most important element I learned during this community is, how to effectively communicate data findings to clients. All these experiences helped me to be a more effective data ninja.
