Nicholas Lehman is ASCAP’s Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy & Digital Officer, reporting directly to the society’s CEO, Elizabeth Matthews. Lehman oversees Strategic Planning, Business Development, Data Strategy, Product Development and Administration Services as ASCAP continuously enhances services to its songwriter, composer and music publisher members as well as to its music licensing partners.To further ASCAP’s commitment to operating as the only US PRO that is truly creator-first and future-forward, Lehman and his team have developed multiple initiatives that drive innovation, differentiation, and collaboration for the society. Under Lehman’s strategic leadership, ASCAP has: established the only comprehensive wellness program for music creators; launched a next-generation mobile app that helps ASCAP members optimize their data and intelligently guides them through complex industry processes; built a groundbreaking data reconciliation platform in partnership with BMI; and conceived the ASCAP Lab, which experiments at the intersection of technology, art, and business. Lehman and his team recently produced “Prelude in AI Major: Crafting a Creator-First Future for Music & AI,” a documentary, viewed over 100,000 times in its first month, that tells the story of the five early-stage music AI technology startups incubated by the ASCAP Lab in order to benefit music creators.

In this role, Lehman helps to guide TEGNA’s overall vision and strategy and works across TEGNA’s portfolio to identify and develop new business opportunities. He is also responsible for cultivating company-wide strategic partnerships and for driving innovation initiatives throughout all areas of TEGNA. Lehman serves as a member of the TEGNA Leadership Team and reports directly to president and CEO Gracia Martore.
