I’m an experience designer/strategist that works across the umbrella spectrum that is experience design - covering strategy, research, design, testing and implementation. Coming from a background in consulting, I also have strong soft skills in project management, leadership (including the thought kind!), Agile and stakeholder management. I am also a certified Scrum Master and a champion of the agile manifesto.Having a broad skill set, I tend to gravitate towards roles where I lead design teams and can assist in project and delivery management, whilst still getting stuck into the fundamentals of experience design.I’ve often been described as the person who can “switch hats” when talking to different people and unblock design challenges.Which is funny, because I don’t think I suit hats normally. Using my prior consulting/digital experience, my mathematical background and my design experience, I’m someone who can talk to and translate across different roles, including designers, researchers, strategists, product owners, business analysts, technical architects, data scientists and change managers.Aside from my day job as an experience designer/strategist, I also lead training around experience design, design thinking and storytelling, and write about experience design. My focus is on breaking down some of the barriers to entry with experience design and making it accessible to all. I write based on some of the assumptions and stereotypes people had of me when I first entered the industry, hiring experience designers, and my experiences working with stakeholders on a variety of projects. I want to highlight the importance and benefits of experience design to people who might be sceptical of it, as well as just explain what exactly we do and how we add value.
