As a Community Program Specialist, I successfully transitioned into a senior leadership role after implementing new programs that garnered significant community engagement and increased activeness of the Oranga Community Centre. This position involved leading a dedicated team of three and overseeing the programming, budgeting, and operational requirements of a two council-owned facility.In this capacity, I managed both the Oranga Community Centre and the Riverside Community Centre. Key responsibilities included budget management, where I introduced a real-time budget tracking tool utilized by over 20 team members. Additionally, I developed and implemented new policies for school holiday programs and achieved a 100% increase in social media engagement compared to the previous year. My role also encompassed building relationships with various community stakeholders and serving as the health and safety delegate.

Following a year as a Place Host at Oranga Community Centre, I advanced to the role of Program Coordinator. In this position, my primary responsibility was to ensure the Centre's programs were actively engaging and relevant to our Oranga Community, aligning with the Maungakiekie-Tamaki Local Board outcomes and meeting the needs of the comunity. During this time I introduced numerous wellbeing, health, community, childrens, parents, and upskilling programs for the community. My role involved extensive collaboration with community stakeholders, including government organizations like Kainga Ora and Piratahi, as well as local schools, businesses, and NGOs.During my tenure, I spearheaded a five-part podcast series on the Panthers television series, focusing on the Dawn Raids and contemporary issues like racism in New Zealand. This project, created in collaboration with the cast and crew of Panthers and supported by the Auckland Council Pasifika Success Team, and is featured on the Auckland Council Heritage Website, and on Spotify.Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, I organized the first council facility-based vaccination drive to encourage vaccinations during the lockdown, this required stakeholder relationship management with health providers, landowners, and council. Additionally, I planned and executed eleven successful school holiday programs, each a week-long, free program providing lunch to children. Each school holiday program, would reach full capacity within under an hour of spots being made avaliable.My efforts also led to over a 100% increase in social media engagement compared to the previous year. Furthermore, I secured multiple funding grants for community stakeholders, enabling them to continue their essential work and projects while fostering growth and capacity within the Oranga Community.

As a place host at Oranga Community Centre, I would do a lot of planning and preparation for events, social media advertising and management, looking after and assisting venue customers, look after and schedule bookings, insure that the centre is well maintained. In this role I also designed an term long education based weekly program for intermediate students, which I also taught on site at the community centre. These classes were music based classes, and was teaching the students about music, creative writing and audio engineering.

In October of 2017 I moved from the Hybrid [Copywriting and Audio Engineering role] to a full time audio engineering role. This role requires me to run a recording studio, where I direct voice talent of different abilities to not only get the best read out of them, but also to help them grow as voice talent. Predominantly majority of the audio engineering work that I do is radio advertisements, although from time to time I do focus on other projects. This role requires a lot of attention to detail, good communication skills and good time management. On an average day I will record and mix down anywhere between thirty to fifty radio advertisements from start to finish. This requires a good balance of being able to produce not only quality sounding audio but also in a vast quantity too. As an audio production engineer directing voice talent is only part of the role, the other part involves technical abilities. This is where the mixing comes in and having a good understanding of how to navigate your way in software like Pro Tools, Nexgen, Adobe Audition among other software. During my time in this full time role, and even before when I was doing it in the Hybrid role and in Wellington I was continually upskilling having industry professionals critique my work and give feed back so I could improve myself as an audio engineer. The role as an audio engineer is also an important one technically where having a good understanding of how sound works. I have fundamental and good understanding on how to EQ voices to get them to sound the way in which I want them to sound, as well as a good knowledge on how to use compression in an effective way to get the best of the audio that I produce, the same applies to mastering my audio.

After completing my internship in Wellington at NZME. I stayed on for another six months before moving to Auckland to further my career within in the StudiO creative team at NZME. I was given the role as a Hybrid, a newly created role where half of the day I would be a copy writer and the other half I'd run my own recording studio.
