As a budding designer, my passions lie in sustainable and resilient design to respond to changes in our environment due to climate change, with the user experience, comfort and safety at the forefront of the design process. I also have a keen interest in disaster relief efforts. I am inspired by Japanese Architect Kengo Kuma who has designed and led several temporary shelter projects natural disasters refugees. During the summer of 2022, I was involved in a residential restoration project in LaPlace, Louisiana following hurricane Ida with the non-for-profit organization All Hands and Hearts. This experience further strengthened my desire to help people, both through resilient design which can protect from harm and loss, as well as temporary design catered to initial response.
