* Haggen was a corporate startup attempting to launch a grocery chain at scale in a new region spanning across CA, AZ, and NV* My region grew from 30 to over 150 people over three months* I was the only IT person assigned to the entire region. I was the only support contact for up to 150 people, both in-office and remote, 24/7.* Supporting people at scale as a single individual sharpened my time management skills and reinforced the important of doing something right the first time* Responsible for IT equipment, setup, and training for the entire regional staff* Responsible for the setup, expansion, and maintenance of the regional office network. The network started in one office suite for 30 people and grew to support two physical office locations and up to 150 users mixed between employees, contractors, and guest vendors all with different needs and security requirements. All offices, grocery stores, and some partner vendor networks were linked together to form a company-wide intranet, increasing the complexity of all network tasks* Responsible for training and on-boarding for various enterprise IT systems including VPN, email, Business Intel, PBX, and others* Managed external vendors that provided some of the various IT systems being used by the business* Constantly walk the line between technical "correctness" and the needs of the business to get work done in a startup environment. I was able to take to heart what it takes to run a business, especially in a cutthroat industry with very low operating margins like grocery. The experience of being in the trenches with the people running the business was invaluable and gave me a perspective that many of my peers cannot replicate.
