About Nick Phillips
At the start of 2017, I recognized an opportunity to reinvent myself as a leader that could invoke others to do more than just benefit themselves. In the three years that have followed, my ‘Where Do Butts Go?’ campaign has grown beyond the days of solo cleanups in a panda costume, to involve sports arenas, music venues, and government offices in the effort to divert this commonly littered waste stream. This year, I partnered with the Inland Ocean Coalition to expand my knowledge of community building in the nonprofit sector, while further developing my campaign under their programs which promote ocean health, watershed protection, and plastic pollution prevention. I plan to finish my Bachelor of Science in Business Management, with a concentration in Entrepreneurship, in December of 2021 while developing a social enterprise that will take on cigarette waste by collaborating with "ButtShrooms," or mushrooms that grow on cigarette butts.
