I moved to Portugal in 2001 after a successful career in corporate IT in Cape Town, South Africa. Initially the plan was to enjoy a working holiday for six months but I fell in love with the Algarve and opened my own web development business. After working in web development and digital marketing for 14 years in the Algarve (mainly for international clients) I found myself sitting down in front of a keyboard for 10 hours a day and yearned for the great outdoors. So, in 2014, I opened one of the first stand up paddle touring companies in the region: Algarve SUP. We offered stand up paddle adventures across the Algarve and Southern Portugal and founded the region's biggest SUP event: The Guadiana Challenge.It was a fantastic life but in 2018, I felt the urge to focus on the larger surfing industry. I spearheaded an ambitious surf tourism project and created waves with the Wave Pool Mag and SUPfm podcasts.In Nov 2020 I launched a YouTube channel catering to foreigners relocating to Portugal and the Algarve. I have grown the viewership to over 25k subscribers and we have built a relocation and real estate agency on the back of it.
