I am proud to be part of the Dorset Community Mental Health Alliance, a passionate group of people drawn from the voluntary, statutory and business sectors united by one common goal, to improve mental wellbeing in Dorset.

In 2020 I've helped launch three new websites for a construction company, a charity and for a holiday let, where I wrote all the content, sourced pictures and used GoDaddy for the design.

In January 2016 I started running my own business, Wax Associates, with my colleague Janet Bentick. It’s been a fascinating experience and we’ve learned so much in the first 12 months.We are still heavily involved in the heating and plumbing industry, but are also taking on new clients from other sectors, and this is an area of the business we are very keen to expand.Wax is now working with Dorset’s award-winning children’s theme park, Adventure Wonderland. It has a loyal band of visitors, but we're keen to attract new fans.

I instigated and ran Plumb Center’s hugely successful Make Carbon Monoxide Alarms Law Campaign, which not only received universal support within the heating industry, but also within parliament – our ultimate goal is to get carbon monoxide alarms fitted in every home and business in the UK. I also ran a national football campaign, which attracted national media coverage and really captured the imagination of both supporters and the energy sector. I took part in radio and newspaper interviews, when web hackers sabotaged the online voting – my skilful handling of the crisis turned a potential disaster into a PR triumph. I write features, news releases and blogs and use social media daily. I am also a very successful media buyer, achieving improved deals for the clients, year on year. I’ve helped organise events, including a day at Henley Regatta for editors, and two Parliamentary Receptions at the House of Commons.I edited Hubbub, an internal staff magazine for 4,000 employees of Plumb Center, which involved travelling the UK conducting interviews, organising briefings and planning meetings. I also help produce magazines for Plumb Center’s customers.

I employed organisational skills, tight time management and considerable charm to overcome staffing shortages and technical issues, while grabbling with terrible staff morale. We maintained high journalism standards, despite huge pressures.

My most important achievement was winning the National EDF Energy Website of the Year Award for the Bournemouth Daily Echo in 2010. Under my leadership we tripled site revenue in just three years and achieved a 63% year-on-year rise in unique visitors in 12 months. I also oversaw a radical shake-up in the way journalists worked; training 75 staff to develop the website and integrated Flickr, Facebook and Twitter into our daily news gathering operation.
