ACCOMPLISHMENTS► Initiated and led Meals & Entertainment study that yielded $175,000 of tax savings annually.► Team leader for Sec 199 overhaul in collaboration with Big 4 Firm. My review of Big 4 workpapers discovered an additional $2 million in annual tax savings that had been overlooked.► Saved $65,000 by noticing a tax deduction that had been overlooked for five consecutive years.► Spearheaded the development and implementation of the income tax department training program, used for four new hires in the past two years. ► Streamlined and documented the department's state and city apportionment gathering process, transforming an annual month-long headache into an easily delegated week-long process.► Trained income tax group how to use Corptax software. Our first year transitioning to a new software package, we completed our returns 2 weeks faster than the prior year.► Implemented continuous process improvements and documentation for numerous processes, including a series of Corptax How-Tos so useful that a former manager requested them to distribute to public practice clients.► 2010 Outstanding Associate Award - Tax DeptDUTIES● Calculated and booked both year-end and interim income tax provisions and deferred taxes in accordance with ASC 740 (FAS109). ● Prepared federal tax return (Form 1120) for the $1 billion flagship company, as well as 9 other C-Corporations 12 international entities, and 3 non-profit foundations.● Prepared tax returns for 18 states and 20 cities across 14 entities, including complex treturns for New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, and California.● Reviewed provisions, returns, account reconciliations, and other work prepared by junior staffers.Trained and mentored 4 junior staff, 2 interns, and a job shadower.● Oversaw 10 state income tax audits from start to finish, including IDRs, legal research, creating ad-hoc documentation, situation analysis, negotiation and defense, and preparation of executive briefs.

I showed so much enthusiasm and talent in my Principles of Accounting class in Winter 2006 that I was invited to be a Teacher's Assistant for the class the following term. I tutored students one-on-one or in groups and corrected papers; unfortunately my schedule did not allow me the join the professor in the classroom.

I sold mall shoppers sneakers part time while I went to community college and burnished my transcript. I collected well over 20 pairs of sneakers during my time here.

I worked the front end as a cashier, and later on, a customer service rep, in a windowless box filled with joyless wretches. This is the job that made me get serious about going to college.
