My role as an associate in KPMG's audit division includes performing various auditing procedures under AICPA, GAGAS, or PCAOB guidlines (depending on the client) on both financial statement audits and single audits. To support these procedures, I actively engage with the client to request support, ask follow-up questions, and communicate on any matters deemed necessary for discussion. In addition to communicating with clients, I often am tasked with obtaining information from various 3rd-party entities in support of our audit. Despite my activities changing each day depending on the immediate needs of the client and the engagement team, I always ensure I'm available to help other members of the team as needed.

While I was a groundskeeper I was responsible for maintaining a health and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere for our community. This included special projects such as spearheading a restoration project on an oak forest that was owned and managed by the college, as well as ensuring numerous native gardens throughout the campus contained high quality native species to reflect what the natural ecosystem of northern Illinois looks like. During my time as a groundskeeper I was also tasked with supervising a number of student workers. Our team consistently completed tasks on time and I held our work to the highest standards.

As an ecological restoration technician, I worked extensively in natural areas owned by various governmental organizations and private companies that emphasized the importance of restoring areas back to what the natural vegetation consisted of. These included park districts as well as corporate headquarters. Some of the areas my team was trusted in working in included state and federally protected species due to endangered and threatened statuses. I was able to learn more about these species and their habitats as I worked on restoring their land to allow them to increase their population numbers.

My time as a research assistant consisted of working alongside an ecologist performing experiments and investigating arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and their associations with native Illinois grasses. This included everything from collecting samples to running laboratory tests as well as interpreting and reporting the data collected. I also ensured the laboratory was kept in a clean and acceptable condition which including tending to a variety of animals in the classrooms to ensure their health and needs were met.
