PMC Estates Limited is a small business unit (SBU) of Optiven Group, a leading real estate company in Kenya. I was promoted to the newly incorporated company from Optiven Group Foundation, the philanthropy arm of the organization. My key achievements were setting up a fully-fledged accounts office with ERP and property management systems, creation of finance manual, opening bank accounts, filing systems, payroll processes and statutory compliance and updating accounting records to reflect company identity. I left PMC Estates Limited to join World Agroforestry (ICRAF).

Optiven Group Foundation was registered on 30th May 2014 and works through donations and volunteer work to support education, health, poverty alleviation and environmental protection initiatives. Whilst learning and gaining work experience, I conducted research on potential donors/partners and developed project proposals. I also assisted in managing and updating donor and client databases and developing communication materials for media and publicity. Occasionally, I represented the foundation at company activations, marketing drives, forums and seminars and made one-on-one and group pitches highlighting the foundation’s work.I left Optiven Foundation on December 2019 after being promoted to PMC Estates Limited, a subsidiary of Optiven Group.

Baseroot Academy is a privately owned primary school in Nairobi County registered with the Ministry of Education to offer Kenyan system of education and administer the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) national examinations. As part of my assignment, I streamlined accounting and finance processes and provided guidance and support to operations staff. I Inspected school fees receipt books and reconciled against bank deposit slips and bank statement, verified petty cash vouchers for purchases and services rendered and prepared management reports for decision making.I left Baseroot Academy to join the Government of Kenya’s national volunteering program (G-United) and posted to Kajiado County.
