Supports AFREC’s transformational programmes and initiatives across the African Union Member States on renewable energy, bioenergy modernization, energy efficiency,energy transition and clean cooking by:-a) Providing expert advice and support in developing and implementing AFREC’s programmes through coordinated support on policies formulation and legal frameworks development to build the African institutional and human capacities of African Union Member States.b) Initiating holistic continental, regional and national implementation strategies on energy in Africa and prepare comprehensive policies and action plans improving energy efficiency in residential, transport, industrial, power, agriculture, and service sectors in Africa, and ensure sustainability dimension in designing these strategies.c) Coordinating policy advisories and technical support for the African member states and Pan African Institutions on energy legal frameworks and regulations, institutional reforms and strategic matters related to development and investment.d) Identifying potential areas of support to member states and design the appropriate interventions.e) Designing and conducting comprehensive capacity building activities to experts of member states and promote the collaboration and cross boarders’ experiences sharing in energy programmes.f) Building partnerships and collaboration with member states, RECs, pan–African institutions, international organisations, think tanks, investors, NGOs and any relevant stakeholders.g) Preparing policy briefs, studies, reports and case studies to enhance visibility of the AFREC’s energy programmes to attract investment and provide advisory supports to relevant stakeholders at national, regional and continental level

Consulting under the UNESCO Chair at Strathmore on energy projects. I work with a team of engineers in the UNESCO Chair, to execute a number of projects. I am currently consulting on three (3) projects, namely: • Safer Complex Systems, sponsored by Royal Academy of Engineers.• Sunsafe, a solar PV design and selection app project, sponsored by the UK Government.• Modern Energy Cooking (MECS) quality ecosystem study

Development of the Energy Efficiency Policy for the East Africa Region. Undertake data collection on status of energy efficiency covering Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda and DRC and propose actions for adoption by the Partner States

(ii) Providing technical expertise in the licensing of renewable energy activities. (iii) Carrying out research on renewable energy resources, technology and its application in the renewable energy sub sector. (iv) Carrying out of renewable energy technical audits. (v) Providing input in the development of renewable energy master plans/strategies and research work (vi) Undertaking technical audits and monitor compliance with renewable energy regulatory instruments in the development of renewable energy plans, standards and strategies. (vii) Developing and submitting timely and accurate renewable energy sub sector reports. (viii) Collecting, analyzing, reporting and maintaining of renewable energy data. (ix) Preparing and presenting of papers for conferences, seminars and workshops.

Designing of Energy Service Companies' (ESCO) Techno-Financial and Contracting Tools for use in the Kenyan market. This work involved recommending to the client, with appropriate justifications from studied literature, the appropriate ESCO models and viable technologies that can be adopted by the Kenyan market. The tools for ESCO included modeled equations for design of ECMs, equations for measurement and verification and a template for energy performance contracts between facilities and ESCOs.
