After growing up in Michigan, I moved to Austin in 2009 to attend The University of Texas at Austin where I earned a B.A. in Rhetoric & Writing. UT's Student Body President appointed me the Founding Director of the Longhorn Entrepreneurship Directory after I helped co-author the legislation to create the agency in Student Government. I also helped start Genesis, UT's fund for student startups, and have volunteered as Alumni Director for 8+ years since helping fund 50+ student ventures.I joined one of the startups we helped launch at UT, Favor Delivery, upon graduation and helped the venture launch new markets leading up to HEB's acquisition of the company. Favor was funded by great investors such as Silverton Partners, Boost VC and S3 Ventures. My time here was just under two years but I gain some of the most valuable insights to top-tier management of venture funded companies. The core of my career in venture capital began when I joined Capital Factory in 2016 where in total I've now spent six years on the venture team. Since I joined Capital Factory, we've invested in 50+ venture deals annually making us the most active investor in Texas since 2014 (according to Pitchbook). The variety of roles I've played at Capital Factory include leading our deal flow, co-investor program and hosting the Austinpreneur podcast. Outside of my primary role at Capital Factory, I created and serve as Editor of Book DAO where we are writing a book for startup teams as co-author collective. I love to smoke brisket and play golf on the weekends when I'm not spending time with my wife Blair and son James.
