I’m living life at ground level. From my start as a young apprentice chef and with several executive career paths under my belt I’ve covered a lot of ground. Cultivating careers and minds like yours is my greatest passion. I might be the most grounded individual in business today. My roots were in farming and a bit later I sprouted wings and was recruited into the U.S. Marine Corps. I served in multiple countries and was part of special operations on the ground at the border of North and South Korea (and onsite) for security at the Olympic Games in Seoul. After my military service, I dug my feet into studies of management and administration while starting my career in software development and information technology. Once my studies ended, as a CEO I orchestrated a merger that expanded my company, positioning it as the #1 technology business in its market. Project management later became my niche and my clients included some Top Fortune 500 companies such as Shell Oil, Texaco, McDonald's, and the “big six accounting firms”. This led my company to be recognized for projects “on time and under budget”. Here is where cultivation comes in. For 32 years I’ve been devoted to management education, as a coach, speaker, and consultant. Teaching international business, I’ve personally opened over 40 locations in 28 countries for HCA International. My rule: “One must be willing to do what he or she is asking another to accomplish.” Understanding comes from doing the work side by side with the people on the ground ─ not from a lofty office in Washington, DC, NYC, or LA. Currently, I am Chief Growth Officer for StoreConnect, a native Salesforce small business eCommerce 3.0 solution. My 3,500 speaking engagements, 2 books, and 5 eBooks have taken me to 32 countries and cultures. That’s a lot of ground to cover in support of my passion for career cultivation and coaching. I always return to my home ground in Utah where my family awaits, I volunteer career seminars and career counseling for high school students in the area, volunteer for the American Legion helping provide returning veterans with a career path – and I tend to my cattle ranch part-time. Reach out to me if you want to chat about the global small business, technology, and eCommerce scene, or navigating the ground beneath your feet.
