When I was 22, after I graduated from college, I decided to take a walk. A long walk; a 500 mile walk. I wanted to accomplish something that not many other people had accomplished so I had decided to hike the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain. Without speaking the language, I flew alone into Madrid and made my way into France and started walking. Along the way, I learned about perseverance, tenacity, the kindness of strangers, patience, and also discovered my ability to lead.One day, about 2 weeks into my trip, I ended up falling behind in my pace due to an injury. A couple of days passed and I had heard suggestions from other 'Pilgrims' to take a bus to get back on track. However, I felt that this was cheating myself out of the accomplishment I wanted to make. Instead, once I knew I was healed, I strapped on my 30 pound backpack and I walked 50KM along the trail through farm paths and up and down mountains to make up for lost time.
