Cto

Bruges Area, Belgium

As the first person in the CTO role at IHC/Infohos my primary task was to introduce stabilization with the then used technologies (.NET, Centura, IDMS mainframe and CA Aion). This was achieved with the introduction of Application Lifecycle Management, a way to manage the lifecycle (from development to release) of our products independent of the used technology. We've standardized on a version control system, a continuous integration system, a QA system and a deploy system for all our applications. For our .NET applications we've developed several best practices on how to build qualitative applications. The last year a lot of my focus has gone to aligning the technology vision with the business vision, introducing several aspects of Enterprise Architecture, redefining our product portfolio and working towards an excellent user experience for our products, services and company.During this period I was involved in all of the architecture decisions for the applications and contributed with code, architecture and team guidance to the start of several new projects and applications.

May 2007 - Apr 2012

Software Developer / Architect

Bruges Area, Belgium

I began working at IHC as a junior developer with no programming skills, but with some web and design skills (html, css, javascript, photoshop, ...) and a lot of motivation. I started working in a team on a web application for the emergency department of hospitals. We started out with classic ASP and VBScript, but switched to ASP.NET 1.0 and VB.NET when the .NET framework first saw daylight. For the following years I've learned a lot through continuous self-education, courses, books and good coaching and came in touch with different technologies and practices (ORM, design patterns, continuous integration, TDD, agile, scrum). When the application I was working was integrated in our central EHR application I moved more into the role of a technical architect. I continued to develop on our custom ORM framework that was inspired by Lhotka's Business Objects for VB6. Because of my interest in graphic and user interface design I also became responsible for the UI design of the application.
