I work and volunteer towards making Finland and Europe a more just a sustainable place for all!• My main work task is to support researchers in developing engaging and competitive Horizon Europe Pillar II and other funding proposals, through my role at Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) as a Principal Specialist in Grant Writing, as well as freelance (Walters Research). At Luke, this is focussed on climate and biodiversity action and on making bioeconomy sectors (agriculture, forestry, rural development, sustainable development, game and fisheries, nature tourism, natural capital, the circular bioeconomy) more sustainable. My freelance work extends to any field, particularly the biomedical field, in which I have earlier worked as a postdoctoral researcher.• I have been working on strengthening equity, wellbeing, and workers' rights at my workplace, as a member of its Equality & Non-Discrimination Group, and as a shop steward (trade union representative) in the Negotiation Organisation for Public Sector Professionals (JUKO) for The Union of Professionals in Natural, Environmental & Forestry Sciences (Loimu). I was also the founding chair of Luke's Intercultural Community, which supports the sharing, understanding, and acceptance of different cultural attitudes and approaches—both professional and social—among and for the benefit of its staff.• I co-founded and chair an immigrant-led, grassroots, non-profit registered association, which works to better represent and integrate minority groups in Finnish politics (HELSINKI LEFT). In 2025, I aim to run as a candidate in the Helsinki Municipal Election.
