I've done it all as a "freelancer" - consulting, full-stack web development, desktop application development, and interfacing directly with clients in a way I didn't get working at corporate jobs before. My jobs have ranged form 3-300 hours and have spanned from startups to Google X as far as level of "corporate-ness" I've worked with. This role for me has been as much about helping clients figure out their problems as it has been about solving them.

I've worked with my other cofounder, Ryan, to take this meal planning service from idea to business. With the exception of a few external libraries, I've written every line of code that makes My Happy Plates. It's a web-app written in Node with a custom front-end. I also wrote a crawler+parser to scrape sources of our recipes (until we moved to entirely user-generated content). I've managed 3-5 team members who are in charge of QA, nutrition, unit conversions, new content, and so much more - this whole side of things requires an extensive "administrator" front- and back-end and has given me some experience in management.

I worked on a variety of software projects at Youth Digital, ranging from client-side file management software in Java to server-side technologies such as PHP and MySQL. I maintained and extended the website, writing JavaScript (with HTML+CSS, obviously). Integrated ZenDesk into our application and also wrote a ZD plugin for ours. Frameworks included Zurb Foundation for responsive design and handlebars.js for templating. I became proficient in several AWS offerings, such as S3, EC2, and Route53. I also worked extensively with Docker, which I still find incredibly powerful and fascinating.

I worked on the Build Team for TFS, specifically on our hosted service, tfs.visualstudio.com. I worked on automating the building of user's code, which meant setting up brand new virtual machines in Azure for each individual build - thousands per day.

Working with Hadoop, I helped to visualize data flow withing and between racks of Hadoop member servers. I worked on telemetry and precise metering in an effort to optimize Hadoop on different machine configurations.

I helped students learn introductory to mid-level Java programming.
