I bring experience in community development, organisational development, leadership and coaching to (currently) roles in the Scottish Government concerned with enabling organisational development and culture change across public service, government and civil society - towards a fairer, more sustainable Scotland. My coaching approach (one-one; team and systemic) aims to connect people to our authentic selves in service of releasing untapped potential in the communities and organisations we are part of. I draw inspiration from practices from different fields and have helped bring to life several communities of practice and inquiry - for example MIT's ULab in Scotland, Art of Hosting, IFF's Transformative Innovation network, co-production, the action inquiry/research field in Scotland, Training for Transformation (in UK), and a pan-UK and Republic of Ireland network called 'Fiery Spirits' for pioneers of assets approaches to rural development (sponsored by Carnegie UK Trust between 2008 and 2012).Earlier in my career I co-ordinated the creation and co-led a Masters' degree in Human Ecology (at Edinburgh and Strathclyde universities). I have a professional training in Action Research (my doctorate is with Bath University's Centre for Action Research in Professional Practice, coaching (Association of Coaching certified), Human Ecology (MSc from Edinburgh University), and community development.I live in Falkland, Fife with my wife Tara and sons Eisean and Oran. I play fiddle, piano and guitar, and record with local bands and write including Quixote (based in Dunbar).
