Nick’s career has been immersed in the full spectrum of risk-based environments from leading operations in uniformed services, conducting overseas humanitarian aid missions and managing fire risk in strategic corporate landscapes.He served 12 years in HM Forces including both regular and reserve service with the Royal Engineers and UK Special Forces. These experiences enabled a valuable perspective on managing risk in challenging, dynamic and austere environments.During his time in the UK Fire and Rescue Service, he experienced a broad range of operational incidents before taking up command positions in operations and as a fire safety officer inspecting officer. He enjoyed the collaborative nature of the work to reduce business interruption and damage to brand integrity. Alongside operational commitments he was engaged in roles as a youth engagement officer supporting the development of disengaged young people and as a critical incident debriefer focussing on the mental health of his colleagues.Throughout his career he has been fascinated with unlocking the potential in people and using challenging adventure as a means to build connection, resilience and confidence to navigate change. He has enhanced this offering through practical philosophy, psychology and training as a counsellor.
