A chair of governors is a leader of a school's governing board and is responsible for ensuring the board functions effectively. The role is considered one of the most important leadership positions in education. The chair of governors' responsibilities include:* Leadership: Working with the headteacher and other leaders to promote high standards of education * Accountability: Holding the headteacher and staff to account for their performance * Engagement: Ensuring the governing body is engaged with the school * Self-evaluation: Leading the governing board's self-evaluation process * Decision implementation: Ensuring decisions made by the governing board are implemented * Complaints: Ensuring complaints made to the governing board are dealt with in a timely manner * Statutory requirements: Working with the Clerk to ensure the governing board's business is conducted in line with statutory requirements

Reporting to the Regional Retail Director, responsible for:• Retail management of this 60,000 sqft full range/non-food superstore incl. online, phone shop, cafe etc• Overall commercial responsibility incl. implementing strategies to achieve financial targets• Managing, leadership and development of 200+ staff• Ensuring exceptional customer experience was delivered to each and every customer• Building relationships internally with stakeholders and decisions makers at all levels• Developing and maintaining a culture of health and well-being of customers and colleagues
