About Nicky Rollings
Jack of all trades, master of none (but better than a master of one).Through the combination of an analytical mind, artistic creativity and a love of learning, I have delved into several different industries in my career thus far. I initially triple majored in chemistry, biochemistry and marine biology at the University of Sydney. I completed honours in evolutionary biology, and later went onto a PhD in the same field, studying painted dragon lizards and red-sided garter snakes. However, while I loved my area of research, I found that I did not particularly enjoy academia and so decided to jump ship into industry. I landed a job at Lion as a research analyst, where I was tasked with researching novel beer technologies and invented multiple new ways to experience beer. Inventing is certainly a creative activity, but my inner artist still cried out for more and during COVID I took up watercolour painting as a hobby. I discovered I was so passionate about creating art that it rapidly escalated. I started sharing it on Instagram and Facebook, building a following, made it available for purchase on Redbubble, started a YouTube channel to share the secrets of creativity, have run multiple market stalls to sell my art, and am now in the process of launching my own, independent, art store.Lion went through a round of redundancies and my role was impacted at the end of May this year. I have seized upon this opportunity to try and develop myself further as an artist although I am still open to other opportunities and adventures. If there is one thing I have learned it's that life can twist and turn in all sorts of interesting directions and I love new challenges!I'm currently open to considering novel and unusual jobs.
