I stayed home from paid work whilst my children were too young to attend school. When the youngest began her prep year I commenced studying Certificate 4 in Education Support. I gained employment from that qualification in October of that same year and have worked steadily since. During my time at home, I also completed a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services with my placement completed at St Kilda Children’s Centre. I also volunteered for homelessness support services, helping prepare food, serve food, and sort donated clothing intended for outreach. I also assisted my mother in her role as secretary in St Vincent de Paul, St Kilda. This included helping her and her team adapt to a computerised system and accompanying her on visits to homes and boarding houses around St Kilda and Prahran.
