Dr. Nico Spyropoulos involved in the commercial space industry for almost 30 years, working as executive at numerous satellite and space-balloon companies such as IIS-EOSAT Inc., Space Imaging (a Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and E-System Company), Definiens, Cosmotelco, KBI, 5CI, UrtheCast, Earthi, World View Enterprise and Space Perspective Inc. Applied novel satellite imaging and communications systems to supporting community development. Inspired by the power of human spaceflight to positively transform life on Earth. His unique talent is to transform R&D activities into operational, profitable and self-sustaining products and services. He was a key member of the special object-oriented image analysis team of Professor Dr. Gerd Binning, Nobel Laureate in Physics 1986, creating tangible products from innovative ideas. His focus was also on how to “bring Earth Observation - SatComms down to earth” by delivering benefit to various communities and adapting experience and knowledge towards the development and planning of new space missions. Dr Spyropoulos strategic project management portfolio includes exploitation of various EO missions and projects in Americas, EMEA, SE Asia including coordination of several EU and ESA projects funded under TELEMATICS, ACTS, ESPRIT, ARTES, H2020 covering subjects such as environmental liability, geospatial intelligence, security and advanced information systems managing teams of experts (75+) with wide range of responsibilities and fields of expertise. In all professional job positions, Dr. Spyropoulos has created a new incremental revenue stream and expanded each technology he was involved. His corporate functional experience together with international background and natural leadership enhance his strong negotiation skill and complex service selling capability. Leveraging a broad business and technical background, his principal contribution has been in supporting solutions to international customers for defence, security space-based observation and R&D, including space democratization through travel and science interaction.Dr. Nico Spyropoulos received his BSc & MSc degrees in Land Reclamation, Hydraulics and Agr. Engineering from Athens University, MSc and Diploma in Remote Sensing from UCL and Imperial College, London and his PhD in Remote Sensing from the University of Athens. He has been Remote Sensing lecturer in postgraduate courses at University of Athens and Eurocourses at Joint Research Centre, European Commission, Ispra.
