Ever since the first time I came in contact with MRI, I am enthusiastic about this imaging modality. It allows fabulous visualization of our human body in a completely harmless way. It is one of the pillar of modern radiology while at the moment MRI is also becoming mainstream in radiotherapy. I am passionate about MRI physics with its close connection to engineering, mathematics , electromagnetics and biophysics. Relevance is important to me and I see myself as a developer and liaison working on MRI methods development and translating them to a clinical setting. In 2019 I formed a new group "computational imaging for MRI therapy & diagnostics" where we work on on the development and application of new MR image acquisition, reconstruction and processing techniques for MRI guided radiotherapy and diagnostic applications. In this context, Deep learning applications for image reconstruction, manipulations and information extraction in radiotherapy became in the last years a key technology in the group's research. Another focus area is radiofrequency field in MRI where we focus on RF antenna engineering and RF safety aspects such as RF induced tissue heating and the development of MRI based method to facilitate safe scanning of implants.
