As the Enterprise Application Architect, I assumed the responsibility of utilising Enterprise Architecture tools to develop a comprehensive meta-model for the organisation. This involved populating the repository with essential information pertinent to the Architecture Discipline.My role extends to active participation in the Architecture Review Committee (ARC), attending Design Authority and Change Control meetings. Additionally, I played a crucial role in the separation process for various applications, particularly those presenting integration challenges.I spearheaded the drafting, submission, and approval processes for applications with Anglo touchpoints, collaborating with the Technical Services Review Board (TSRB). Within the Thungela context, I contributed to the drafting, submission, and presentation of ARC documents for applications seeking approval from the Architecture Review Committee.My primary focus is on establishing and maintaining an Enterprise Architecture Best Practices discipline. This involves implementing necessary governance, guidelines, policies, processes, and principles. My key responsibility is to curate the Architecture Repository, ensuring stakeholders can effectively leverage its information for analysis and decision-making. Emphasising "Architecture for Change," the repository is designed to accurately depict both the "current state" and the "future state" of intended enhancements or changes. This includes generating gap-analysis reports, defining dependencies for impact analysis, and ensuring the repository reflects information from various viewpoints.Moreover, the repository accommodates the needs of diverse stakeholders, offering drill-down capabilities and linking Targets, Goals, Requirements, Functions, Processes, Applications and Technology. It provides a comprehensive view of relationships, identifies gaps, maintains an application catalog, and facilitates quick and effective analytical functionality.

I was part of the “Managed Evolution” (ME) team in the Retail and Relationship Banking division where I was responsible for the execution and delivery (end-to-end) of the various projects undertaken as part of this Programme. This involved analysis (both business, systems, and data), architecture, design, integration, and the required processes in the SDLC.

As part of my responsibilities at ModusBox, I led the creation and establishment of a multi-disciplinary team based in South Africa. Our primary objective was to respond to a request from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to design and develop a cutting-edge Payment Gateway and platform. This platform aimed to facilitate swift cross-border money transfers, incorporating real-time forex calculations. A key emphasis was placed on cost efficiency to align with the overarching goal of "inclusion" outlined by the client.ModusBox (PortX), headquartered in Seattle, extended its global presence, establishing representation in more than 20 countries. Our primary focus lies in Digital Transformation, specializing in solutions requiring Systems Integration expertise.A notable achievement includes our pivotal role in the design and development of Mojaloop (mojaloop.io), a payment gateway. We actively participated in the Proof of Concept (PoC) phase and subsequently, as the chosen implementation partner for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, successfully transitioned Mojaloop into a production-grade open-source software.Furthermore, our engagements encompass supporting the adoption, implementation, and integration of Mojaloop as an open-source payment switch into the existing legacy systems of Financial Service Providers. This involved leveraging cutting-edge technologies and frameworks, including the design and implementation of REST-based microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Helm, Terraform, Ansible, and related tools.Through these initiatives, I have cultivated valuable skills, gaining exposure to AWS cloud-based architecture, design, and implementation on Linux VMs. Our approach included employing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technology and GIT Pipelines to ensure seamless and efficient processes.

I was involved with International projects focusing on integration and inter-operability mainly in the financial and telecommunications sectors.

I was working as an independent consultant in the Enterprise Architecture division at Nedbank in Sandton, as a Solutions and Integration Architect.

Consulting in the Deloitte Digital Division - worked extensively on Integration and cloud technology architecting, designing and implementing Virtual Bank systems with cross-border payment capability using blockchain and integration with payment rails such as Ripple and Stellar.I also led an international Integration team as part of a bigger project where we developed a microservices architected Virtual Bank system using Mule for integration middleware and Java as the service layer.

I was part of a 2-man team porting data feeds written using Seebeyond to the JEE JCAPS platform.

Systems Analysis / Developer / Project Manager of Online Quoting System for Insurance Industry. This was all done using Microsoft technology such as C# (Visual Studio) and MS SQL Server.

I was employed as a Systems Analyst in the Core Banking (Credit & Risk) division where the core banking system was replaced and my duties were to ensure that all peripheral systems in the division would still interface and interact with the new system.

I was part of a team writing the Online Share Trading system for the bank. This was an interactive and live trading platform allowing trading in Equity Derivatives such as CFDs, Futures and Options, apart from the standard equities.

I continued my work as a contract programmer working through Paracon as my labour broker. I worked at various companies performing a wide coverage of roles from programming, testing, systems anaylsis and team lead.

I designed, developed and implemented Asset Management Systems using C++ and COM / DCOM in a Microsoft environment.

I continued my independent contracting career starting off with a developer / analyst role at Nedbank where I developed, with COM and DCOM, client / server solutions using C++.

I was mainly involved in consulting to external clients. My field of expertise was Object Oriented Analysis and Design. I also developed a Reverse Engineering tool using "C" to populate an OOD respository with legacy code from various languages.

I entered the contract programming arena in Johannesburg and together with 9 other professionals, started the software house CompEdge which was later bought out by a bigger player in the market.I worked on contract at companies like Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Reunert, Consol Glass, and Perseus.

I expanded my experience at Goldfields by designing and writing systems in Cobol for batch and online use for gold mines in Welkom.

I started my career at Infoplan (now Denel) as a trainee and got experience in Cobol and Hierarchical database design.
