Working as an Intermediate Structural Engineer with an active role completing detailed design across multiple disciplines:Civil structures – completed a number of retaining wall designs (timber pole and steel pole, as well as reinforced concrete) for sites throughout the country including the IKEA flagship store in Sylvia Park, Auckland, and Spring Grove subdivision in Belfast, Christchurch. Additionally, provided structural engineering expertise frequently during the tender process for in house civil engineering projects. Commercial projects – participated in several small scale new build commercial property designs, as well as assisting in the completion of both ISA and DSA reports for larger commercial properties. Additionally, was involved in the design of new teaching facilities for MOE at multiple school locations across Canterbury.Telco – completed numerous design analyses for both monopole and roof top sites for the 5G roll out on behalf of One NZ. These designs included upgrades to existing assets, as well as new build sites. Earthquake repairs – completed a large number of projects relating to the residential earthquake repairs programme lead by Southern Response. This involved following project through from initial inspection, through all levels of design, to construction and final sign off.Residential new builds – participated in the design packages for various new build design packages, ranging from simple one off projects, to high-end architectural residential properties, up to large residential developments with multiple single family dwellings and multi-unit buildings for Kianga Ora.Additional role acting as the Project manager for the Southern Response Earthquake Repair Programme for the Christchurch Structures team as a whole.

Worked as an Intermediate Engineer on a wide range of residential design projects across New Zealand. These range from small domestic extensions to large scale architectural designed new build houses. Completed a large number of design packages, including foundation design, approving structural drawings and creating and issuing Consent Documentation for issue. The role also included liaising with Architects and Building Consent Officers to ensure that the projects were delivered complete and on-time.

Worked as an Intermediate Engineer for Fletcher EQR on the Canterbury Home Repair Program for the residential rebuild of Christchurch. Carried out a significant number of domestic engineering inspections of earthquake damaged properties and wrote detailed reports including repair strategies based on these inspections. Also completed a number of Detailed Engineering Evaluations of commercial buildings and individual specific design projects. Additionally, handled a large number of queries from homeowners and contractors, as well as other EQR and EQC staff.

Worked as a Structural Engineer in a small engineering consultancy. The majority of the company’s projects were domestic conversions and extensions as well as small commercial and residential new builds. Produced a large number of design and tender packages, as well as handled questions and requests for information from both Architects and Building Control Inspectors.

Temporary unpaid contract to gain experience after graduating from University. Gained a huge amount of knowledge in this position working closely with the senior engineers and AutoCAD technicians within the company. Worked as a junior engineer/AutoCAD technician in a small consultancy. Completed structural drawings and basic calculations for engineers within the company.
