Creating inclusive spaces for young people where they live, learn and play to understand what is important to them and to advocate for their voices to be heard.In my role, I coordinate the participation activity for local government children's services. I create opportunities for partners from the NHS, Police, Education, Statutory Services and the Voluntary Sector, to hear the views of young people so they can have an authentic voice in the development of their services. I also support young people to campaign on issues that are important to them. I am responsible for the East Sussex Youth Cabinet and the East Sussex Members of Youth Parliament. My work is guided by the Make Your Mark Vote, the largest youth referendum in Europe and underpinned by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child Article 12, which states that every child has the right to have a say in issues that affect their lives.

A qualified Youth Worker with a specialism in Youth Participation and a degree in Childhood Youth and Society. I deliver creative and interactive projects, workshops, training and youth forums on a range of issues including; Violence Against Women and Girls, Youth Participation and Children’s Rights, Friendships, Identity, Anti-bullying, Women and Girls Health, Eating Disorders, Digital Resilience and Online Safety, Mental Health and Wellbeing and Bereavement.

Asset Based Community Development as part of the East Sussex wide Making it Happen Project. Making it Happen mission statement is to ‘help communities take control of theirfuture and achieve better outcomes for themselves and all of their members’. My role is to facilitate the development of locally ‘grown’ sustainable solutions that meet people and community needs.I work in partnership with residents and organisations in specific local and often disadvantaged communities to maximise and build on the wealth of assets that people possess. I help communities to grow and strengthen their personal resilience.

A piloted partnership agreement between East Sussex County Council and 3VA enabled me to work part time in the community to lead on strengthening youth voice within the East Sussex Voluntary Sector.Key Skills - facilitation of a youth voice practitioners network, partnership development, strategic working, project development and delivery, fundraising, youth work, campaigning and lobbying with young people, leading on promotion within the voluntary sector of the largest youth referendum in Europe (Make Your Mark), writing youth engagement guidance documents and facilitating training to accompany guidance.
