Nicola Levi, Phd Email and Phone Number
I am an experienced structural geologist. I have been working for 15 as image log interpreter, field mapper, core logging and so on. I have been active in the geothermal energy, hydrocarbon exploration and nuclear waste site assessment.

Partner Of Nimbuc GeoscienceNimbuc Geoscience Jun 2017 - PresentViennaSenior Structural Geologist, mostly in charge for the detailed interpretation of Image Logs from fractured or tectonically deformed reservoirs, geomechanical characterization of 1D borehole data. -
Post-DocUniversity Of Vienna Oct 2017 - Sep 2021ViennaI am currently involved in the FFG project "Alpine Stress" that combines geomechanics, regional tectonics and interpretation of Image Logs. The aim of the project is the assessment of the current state of stress of the frontal part of the Eastern Alps and the activity of the major thrust faults. This is done also analyzing the occurrence of drilling induced features in a large amount of nearly vertical boreholes.

Senior GeologistTask Fronterra Geoscience Nov 2013 - Nov 2015ViennaSenior Geologist, November 2013 to November 2015Thank to the successful relationship established with my clients, in the 2013 I have been promoted Senior Geologist. In this period I was in charge for the keeping active the relationships with my contacts, and also interpreting and reviewing the most complex projects. I analyzed several wells from unconventional plays that included a detailed correlation between image log and core data (ct-scan). I studied also a very long and challenging well from Kurdistan, with several kilometers of image logs, and drilled trough a complex thrust structure (Kurdistan). -Unconventional plays: Argentina -Fractured carbonates: Kurdistan, Papua, Russia, Middle East -
GeologistTask Geoscience Sep 2008 - Nov 2013ViennaGeologist, September 2008 to November 2013In charge for the interpretation of image logs and preparation of reports and maps summarizing the results. I have analyzed images in any kind of reservoir, but I am specialized in structurally complex settings. I have been project geologist of a large multiwell study in Russia, where I had to manage a large multidisciplinary team. The study was focused on the relationship between fracturing and vuggy porosity and the results have been presented to the EAGE meeting in London (2013). -Clastic studies: Pakistan and West Africa-Fractured Basement: Yemen and North Sea-Unconventional: North America, South America, Germany-Fractured Carbonates: Austria, Russia, Papua-Geomechanics: Germany and Austria (in collaboration with a specialist)

ResearcherCnr And University Of Pisa 2004 - 2008PisaIn this years I spent a lot of time walking and mapping trough different mountain belts. In the Northern Apennines (Italy) I did several mapping projects for public entities, but the most interesting study was a full structural study of a fractured water reservoir. I analyzed both the tectonic setting and the relationships between fracture orientations and paleo-stress, and the results have been published on Geological Journal. In the Alpine Corse (France) I have studied the tectonic evolution of the HP ophiolitic units, combining different data (Geodinamica Acta). In the Dinarides of Serbia I was in charge for mapping large structures and the regional unconformities related to the Zlatibor ophiolites. The resulting map and regional interpretation are published on the magazine Ofioliti.

Phd StudentUniversità Di Pisa Jan 2000 - Jan 2004Pisa, Italy"Emplacement of shallow-level tectonic units: the case of the Helminthoid Units of the Liguria" The aim of my PhD was the stratigraphic and structural study of the Antola Unit of the Northern Apennines. In order to do that I spent in the field several months, mapping structures and sampling several sections for the nannoplancton biostratigraphy. The results of my PhD have an impact of the regional geology of the Apennines-Alps system in the Upper Cretaceous-Miocene time, and have been published on Journal of Structural Geology and Cretaceous Research.
