Profile bio

About Nicola Waite

I should start this bio with a huge amount of working accolades but my biggest achievements are navigating a huge amount of life events providing me a significant and profound level of lived experience allowing me to understand youth homelessness, mental health, bereavement, loneliness, poverty and social injustice. I was once the very person our customers are today and that drives me in so many ways to achieve social justice and system change. Now here comes the professional bit.....I have also been fortunate to use my life experience to work in the field of homelessness for a large portion of my working life, originally working in a local authority setting before moving to join Shelter in the voluntary field. I have worked in Direct Hostels, Support Roles, Tenancy Sustainment, ASB and Community Cohesion. I then began to join the dots around systems being the problem not the people trying to access them. Once you recognise social injustice it's hard to turn a blind eye too and so I found my passion.

Listed skills include Coaching, Public Sector, Voluntary Sector, Rental Management, and 18 others.
