Assistant Professor: Programme Director & relationship manager with remit to design & develop a bespoke suite of education programmes for the Department of Social ProtectionIn 2016 NCI commenced a collaboration with the Department of Social Protection to assist in developing the confidence and competence of employees via an NFQ accredited education programme. A suite of programmes was developed across multiple occupational profiles within the DSP in line with their mission and values. This suite of 7 programmes is an overarching introduction to public administration and social protection policy in Ireland. The development of the suite at levels 6/7/8 represents implementation of the strategy to professionalise DSP activities and to specifically provide staff with the Confidence and Competence to perform their role to the best of their ability in line with universal academic norms . To date 1,500+ DSP staff have graduated from the suite of programmes.

With in excess of 10k CV and Interview audits completed highly experienced in training & mentoring in employability & transferable skills and is a third level Access & Labour Activation Fund mentor, Programme Director NCI DSP, International Financial Service Ireland Apprenticeship Steering Committee Member. Director of the Export Orientation Programme with IBEC . The EOP provides recent graduates of all disciplines with valuable introduction to international business & allows Irish Exporting companies to develop their international marketing and export capacity. Nicola developed a unique, internationally recognised blended learning MSc qualification in International Business Development for EOP candidates which has since been replicated throughout Ireland and beyond. Nicola also designed bespoke life skills and intercultural training for non-graduates. This programme provided unemployed non-graduates with proficiency in literacy & linguistic skills within a host placement in the EU. The European Experience Programme had a significant impact on the employability skills & employment rates of the participants.Nicola also designed, secured funding for & implemented Irelands first blended learning MSc in International Business Development in conjunction with IBEC & DIT. This unique programme of study was designed in response to an assessment of the needs of industry & recent graduates. This model has now been replicated across education / industry partnerships throughout Ireland & has successfully graduated 300+MSc students since its inception. This programme allows graduates to gain a recognised third level qualification whilst engaging in work place experience directly linked to the commercial success of their host company & the development of an export led economy.Closely involved in third level curriculum development and the promotion of foreign language acquisition which includes involvement in external committees such as the Modern Languages Initiatives, EU Award for languages, Leonardo Da Vinci National Selection Committee, Expert Group Future Skills Needs Committee, Programme for University Industry Interface advisory board, Chairperson of the Extra Curricular Activities Awards/ Uaneen Awards in Dublin City University.
