Worked under the supervision of Dr. Craig Johnston as part of the EaSi-CAT programme.Thesis title: “Leveraging Alkylcobalt(IV) Intermediates in Cobalt-Catalysed Alkene Hydrofunctionalisations”

For my Masters project I worked under the supervision of Dr. Craig Jamieson. The primary aims of the project involves using synthetic methodology to optimise photochemical reaction conditions using visible light. Chemical synthesis and techniques used: transition metal-catalysed cross couplings, heterocycle synthesis, performing reactions under inert atmospheres and photocatalysis using both UV and visible light.

As part fulfilment with my degree I undertook a year industrial placement within the medicinal chemistry department at Sosei Heptares. This experience was invaluable to me and provided me with a range of skills. Day-to-day work involved the design, synthesis and purification of small molecules by working as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Involved serving customers in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining high standards of customer service.
