Sub-Project Manager - Component Strength, Testing & Validation
Altensteig, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
• Project Management in regard of scope, schedule, implementation and tracking of development and test projects related to newly designed automotive systems for a variety of manufacturers and models, including BMW 3 Series I4 gasoline, Audi A6, Volkswagen 2.0-liter diesel engine.• Managed the design and engineering process according to customer requirements and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles from prototype to production using CAD and simulation software. • Designed tests for individual components and systems to determine reliability under a variety of conditions related to force, heat, vibration, and driving environment; test types included flow vs. dP, pressure testing, thermal cycling, vibration, shock, mechanical durability, and pressure pulsation testing• Used statistical analysis after failure analysis to assess the reliability of individual components or provide root cause and FMEA-based recommendations to engineering for design (materials, fabrication, shape) and manufacturing (welding robot configuration, tolerances, surface finish).• Lead cross-functional project teams of up to 10 mechanical, material, quality, and simulation engineers for product development, definition of validation plans including sophisticated prototype and series product testing, using careful resource planning and prioritization to complete projects on-time meeting all requirements with the shared resource team• Identified and owned continuous improvement process initiatives for product design, lean manufacturing, process improvement, and team-collaboration to increase team/process productivity
