Previously a Computer Science student, I am now a Senior at GCSU as a Management of Information Systems major. The reason for my change was a simple one, I wasn't enjoying my work as one. I am now working towards a profession in MIS with a goal of eventually becoming a project manager. My classes put a heavy focus on businesses and the work I will be doing as a professional with courses such as business analysis where we are working on identifying problems in a business’ information system and improving the system. This process includes the creation of DFD charts, context diagrams, Excel spreadsheets, and presentations.Previous classes like Introduction to ERP taught me about the different business processes that companies have. This class gave me a good look at how the different processes are done using the SAP ERP software. I also gained the opportunity to lead a small group of students in a company simulation against other groups made up of students where we came out with the highest profit and production. I am currently looking forward to exploring deeper into the responsibilities that my future jobs hold for me and how to complete them to the best of my ability. I plan on becoming more familiar with software like Jira, Excel, Lucidchart/Visio, and more. During my Sophomore year, I was hired as a Supplemental Instruction Leader at my college for the 1301 Intro to Java course. This meant I was in charge of holding sessions reviewing material and providing exercises to prepare them for the class work and exams. I was also in charge of communicating with my professor and turning in reports to my superiors about the sessions and progress.Most recently, I have been working for a MAR Advantage helping them develop ideas for what products and other ventures to take up by doing market research in order to help them understand the different spaces that they look to join. In this I get to work with professionals that normally would never look in my direction in a big corporation. Thanks to this, I have learned invaluable lessons.Some things that I have been enjoying recently are meeting people at fairs held by my college and hearing more about what is sought after in my field of interest. This alongside keeping myself active with sports and the gym have kept me energized throughout the year and help me relax.Currently I help run my families business as an operations manager. In the short time we have owned the place, I have reduced our materials cost by %30-40 fostered customer relations, and integrated multiple new systems to improve business,
