Nico has more than 16 years of experience leading and managing expeditions all over the world, specializing in Polar Regions, Antarctica & the Arctic. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Ecotourism Project Management and his work is related to leadership, developing high performing teams, project management, strategic planning, risk management and situational awareness. Nico started his career in the outdoors in 2007 leading land based expeditions with Vertical S.A. & the Wharton School. He joined A21 in February 2013 by climbing the first ascent of The Sharp Peak in the Antarctic Peninsula.He is a certified Senior Assessor and Senior Polar Guide with the Polar Tourism Guides Association and most importantly, an ambassador of the Polar Regions by heart. Since 2019, he has been involved in the training, development and certification of 180+ guides in Polar Regions.His biggest passion is spending time in the mountains, either walking, climbing or on skis and, he has climbed in mountain ranges including the Andes, Antarctica, Himalayas, the Rockies, the Alps in Europe, the Southern Alps in New Zealand, the Blue Mountains in Australia and South Africa.
