It provides me with valuable insights and expertise in this area. The PhD journey has given me the opportunity to gain new insights into the field of embedded systems by identifying potential security vulnerabilities. It follows on from my engineering studies, during which I develop knowledge from the behavior of transistors (using Virtuoso) to the execution of a program on them.🧙‍♂️On the technical side, I speeded up the testing and trimming of architectural components (internal clocks, ADC, DAC) present in microcontroller ICs during my apprenticeship. It consists of a combination of traditional DFT techniques with conventional user code that performs the test and trim steps.This then led me to do a PhD to develop security mechanisms against side-channel attacks targeting leakages present in the microarchitecture of embedded processors.After a processor study, a hardware/software solution was developed to protect against such attacks, with a low-cost implementation. The solution was developed using the SystemVerilog hardware description language (HDL), targeting an FPGA. The new security mechanism is software-supported, allowing easy integration into C language programs.
