I am a structural engineer specialized in the modeling of assemblies (bonded, riveted, welded).Full-scale structures can be subjected to accidental situations.The assemblies play a key role in structure strength and failure (energy absorption, failure propagation).The structures need to be designed performing explicit fast dynamics computations.However, a fine meshing of the assemblies (to model the complex phenomena occuring) is incompatible with the scale of the structure. In fact, efficient and accurate enough "macroscopic models" are required to perform the full scale structure computations.This is the context of my research, focused on the formulation of macroscopic assembly models for the computation of full-scale structures subjected to shock and impact.It brings me to work on mesoscopic modeling of assemblies, connector and cohesive element formulations, enrichment of finite element formulations, and coupling of discretizations.
