Blue Alliance Marine Protected Areas (before 'Blue finance') is a social enterprise working with governments to build and manage Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) that regenerate coral reef ecosystems and improve the lives of local communities. We bridge the marine conservation financing gap through innovative, Blue Economy reef-positive solutions in and around the MPAs. Together, we are helping the planet, one MPA at a time.Today, with local partners, we manage 60 Marine Protected Areas - preserving 1,300,000 ha of high-biodiverse coral reefs, protecting >40 endangered species and improving livelihoods of >20,000 coastal community members in Indonesia, the Philippines and Zanzibar.Our team is positioned for the success of our Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) with >80+ rangers, community officers and managers implementing “on the ground” MPA activities and a 15-person senior, international, management team providing support and strategic decision-making to local teams. We are one of the only groups with experience in co-managed, self-financed MPA project execution, in developing countries. We have forged strong links with more than 30 conservation partners and financial institutions to cover and meet all the needs of MPAs.
