From a collective 7 years of working as either a Shift Supervisor or Barista at Starbucks to working at Koodo mobile as a customer service representative, I am very comfortable working with people. I like deducing and conversing with people in order to simplify their needs and get people what they need. It has taught to me to be more perceptive to people’s needs, and more confident in products that I can propose to a customer based on the information they provide. I feel that it allows for me as a person to really get to know different types of personalities and lifestyles where I can really keep notes of common needs, wants and issues to help someone new that walks in the door.In terms of education, I have always been in artistic circles. I grew up acting in plays and studied 3 years at college Lasalle in Fashion/costume Design. Learning the history that make up the aesthetic industry of Fashion. My biggest lesson came from researching different ideas, themes, and historical moments and distilling the information in a singular aesthetic look that can easily identify a person in the specific period. Further on I studied at Concordia in theatre design, giving my focus to Costume and Puppetry, still acquiring the skills of creating an image of a living breather person. Under-standing how to visually represent a personality and feeling with a simple cut of a dress, or shade of fabric. It helped me come up with an artistic style that helps to bring out a person’s mindset, that is extremely important In Theatre but also in makeup. My new adventure is take the Fashion and Beauty course at Interdec College learning how to properly do the techniques I’ve learned through YouTube and Friends. My experience in makeup is work for the last year as a Drag performer at Cabaret Mado, Bar le Cocktail and Café Cleopatra. Over the last 8 years I’ve learned techniques and tricks from different seasoned performers as well as makeup artists from Mac Cosmetics. Learning different techniques I’ve dabbled in a lot of different techniques to heighten my natural features and downplay others. I also learned firsthand how to feminize the face and play with soft shapes of the face, to play with different characters in my numbers and acts. Knowing all this, going into Interdec College, I intend to use what I know in the proper way, learn the proper techniques and steps to achieve even more looks than I know. It’ll help to contextualize the reason behind using different brushes and products and allow me to real-ly develop my skills first hand.
