I was part of the core team of free-space-optical communications start-up company quantumBEAM Ltd, designing electronics and devices for novel broadband optical transmitter and receiver systems.I designed APD and PIN diode receivers for 100 Mpbs and 1.25 Gbps data rates using transimpedance and limiting amplifier ICs and additional discrete circuits for DC cancellation, DC restoration, filtering, RSSI and high voltage PSU. I also worked on electrical modelling of our patented GaAs optical modulators and obtained the required EMC approvals for our first two products.

Additionally, I focused keenly on the generation and exploitation of intellectual property.
