Senior Strategist, Creative & Digital
CurrentLeading agency campaigns on social media (including influencer relations), email and organic SEO. I make creative that gets engages audiences and leads to performance based on insights and analytics.
Social Media Strategist
Principal
CurrentAfter a decade in the food and beverage industry I was born into, I needed a lifestyle change. I started editing and writing in university but things really spiced up during the COVID-19 pandemic when I was unemployed and doing my post-grad in PR. Suddenly, I had colleagues, family and new clients coming in the door trying to navigate a brave new world that were willing to give someone new a try to fit their budgets. Projects got bigger and bigger and bigger, whether they were paid or non-profit. Continuing to build out this business remains a long term goal, I love working intimately with small companies and non-profits and solving complex problems.Clients Include: Canadian Mental Health Association: Toronto, La Asociación de Viticultores y Bodegueros de Canarias, Wildepeople, Marcus Greatheart MD MSW, Sensory Yoga Wellness, TWC Imports, Barrel Select Inc., Bogie's Best Imports, Old Salt Cocktails, Peer-to-Peer Hospitality, Ethica Press.
Professor
Being a substitute teacher is really fun, guys. Niagara College really wanted the right person to teach the course so they let me teach this remotely which really worked out. I was concerned that with the virtual atmosphere students might be checked out, but I love when they get engaged and creative. Teaching media relations was great because it allowed me to update the curriculum to include the skills needed for influencer relations, different types of media outreach, expectations around earned vs sponsored and include new media best practices like podcasts. My aim was to get my students to understand the difference between the hard sell and the soft sell with media outreach, create interesting ways to tie-in messaging and of course, teaching them how to build positive relationships with the media.
Account Manager
Flying Camel specializes in home and building clients and an impressive client list for a boutique agency. Given the nature of the clients, there were a lot of lessons in B2B in this sector. I was a key team member on the digital and social side of things, building out my paid advertising and media planning skills
Social Media Account Manager
Zak Communications introduced me the glamorous world of beauty, fashion and luxury — which was a deep dive outside of my comfort zone, but I think that's why I was good at it. Like many lifestyle brands, social media is a huge part of the beauty and fashion space, which meant I kept busy with consulting our teams on social media best practices to make sure the content we were curating for the brands would deliver. On the creative side of things, I definitely upped my video and post-production skills in making social content for some brands when Reels and TikToks became the primary currency on social media. This was a masterclass in influencer relations in a super competitive space, with a superb network of media members.I also got to continue my social impact work here, working on a committee with the founder and director to become a Certified B Corporation and helping to create internal conversations about how Zak can do good with the work we do with our clients.
Social Media And Content Consultant
Public Relations Intern
Working at Enterprise was equally enjoyable and educational. I wanted to intern there to continue improving my writing and media relations skills, and what could be better than learning from Kalvin Reid? I learned two incredibly valuable things from Kal: 1) The art of the soft sell — stories are about people, not products; 2) Don't work through your lunch if you don't have to. I was regularly complimented for my ability to produce quality work on a tight timeline, working on 20+ clients at the time.
Research Coordinator
Ashley Letts took me under her wing in my first PR job, assisting in media relations and research for her roster of social impact clients. Working with Microbac Labs during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, Overcoming Racism in the wake of George Floyd's murder and Initiative for Medicine, Access and Knowledge (I-MAK) during the House Committee hearing of Big Pharma executives were an incredible education in newsjacking and media monitoring — and incredibly rewarding.
