The engineer's role incorporates design, project management, procurement, sales, and leadership roles. Projects range from single unit deliveries to large scale production. Fields served include civil (bridges and railways), oil and gas (support vessels and lift boats), military (articulating ramps). It is the engineer's responsibility to develop and design a custom system that meets the customer's requirements, this requires the use of modeling software, creating drawings, and performing critical strength and weight calculations. The engineer is also responsible to order material and oversee the build of the project in the shop and coordinate man hours with the shop foreman to insure on time delivery. After completion of the build, the engineer will commission the new system in the field and address any concerns the customer has while training the customer's employees on how to use the new system.
