Nicole Ann Alberto, Pt, Dpt, Mph Email and Phone Number
Living half of my life in a developing country, the Philippines, and the other half in a developed country, the United States, exposed me to differences in beliefs, values, behaviors and customs of both countries. The perspective, self-awareness, and understanding of cultural diversity that I developed from this experience shaped me to be more competent and sensitive in delivering my services to others of diverse backgrounds. Retaining and utilizing my cultural identity in my profession not only aids in narrowing the cultural disparity gap in healthcare delivery, it also fosters a perceptive and respectful environment for people of color.Simultaneously, this population shift encourages me as a professional to work jointly with others in improving patient outcomes while blending our professional cultures through our respective disciplinary expertise. My current public health profession and physical therapy career open opportunities for me to promote broader yet individually tailored care to patients and to encourage interprofessional collaboration in the educational environment.
