During my time at McKinnon Legal, my position as a Family Law Paralegal transcended everything I thought I knew about Family Law. Being immersed in the most practical setting I have been a part of thus far introduced me to various issues within my own case load including but not limited too: Dissolution of Marriage; Paternity; Alimony; Custody/Timeshare; Parental Responsibility; Child Support; Equitable Distribution; and Mandatory Disclosure. I was able to enhance my abilities and knowledge by drafting legal documents starting from the inception of cases including but not limiting too: Pleadings, Marital Settlement Agreements, Paternity Settlement Agreements, Parenting Plans, Applicable Motions, as well as prepping for hearings, and working directly with clients during the discovery phase. I was in frequent communication every day with clients, third parties, and opposing counsel when it was necessary in order to help progress the case and not prolong litigation.

Through the Children and Families Law Clinic at Nova Southeastern Shepard Broad College of Law, I was invited to intern with The Honorable Michael Davis. Learning from Judge Davis has taught me the importance of maintaining high ethical standards in the legal profession, as well as being able to think critically and creatively in regard to Marital and Family Law issues.

During my time as an intern for the Children and Families Law Clinic, I handled my own case load that required working with clients directly from the start of their intake meeting. I received valuable experience in legal drafting, gathering discovery, and communicating with clients and opposing counsel.
