My first job was actually working with my dad on a ranch. I improved my carpentry, listening, and teamwork skills while participating in a truly hands-on experience. From there, I started at Round Table Pizza in Oakdale, California. The small, rural town I lived in was not as strict with COVID-19 regulations, and I experienced some difficult situations with co-workers, customers, and even my parents when it came to working here, but I used my problem-solving and communication skills to work out my problems. My second food-service job was at Starbucks, and I worked there from May to August of 2021 and 2022. I learned a lot about team-building and dependence on others to communicate and work together. Starbucks also taught me a great deal about confidence; as I gained more trust in myself I improved my efficiency and quality of work. Finally, I began working at Yogurt Park in Berkeley in January 2022. This is my first experience with a smaller food-service company, and I love the close connections I have with the owners and the customers. Ultimately, Yogurt Park has taught me to be efficient and to understand my worth, as my coworkers and I petition to have card tips.
