About Nicole Khamsa
I am a R&D research associate that is working to increase the efficiency and efficacy of DNA and RNA extraction technologies for agricultural, medical, academic and environmental research. I am experienced in experimental design, protocol optimization, creating methods for automation platforms that include magnetic processors and liquid handlers, and conducting experimentation and interpretation of problems and results to develop new products, optimize existing ones, and troubleshoot new solutions.In my graduate program, I worked to create a reporter system between two essential organelles in the human parasite Toxoplasma gondii. This study was conducted to further uncover the biology of a parasite that is the causative agent of one of the most prevalent parasitic infections in the world, disseminated toxoplasmosis. In my time at the University of Georgia I gained experiences that include experimental cellular and molecular biology techniques that included developing a fluorescent assay and utilized flow cytometry to validate results, individual project design and management, scientific data analysis and interpretation, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Fiji 2, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel. My colleagues would describe me detail oriented, driven, resourceful, and creative individual who maintains a positive attitude.
