I am one of the Program Manager for FamilyForward's Therapeutic Preschool and have been with the agency for over 5 years. In this time I have a gained a lot of skills. Our program works provides a highly structured environment, utilizing trauma informed developmentally sensitive interventions, for children ages 3-6 who have experienced emotional and behavioral difficulties resulting from histories of developmental trauma. I have worked with caregivers to help them understand the why behind behaviors and provide psychoeducation. I help them develop goals for both themselves and their children that they can work towards at home. I have level on training in Theraplay complete MIM reports with goals for families to work towards in sessions. I have done parent coaching sessions and have met with caregivers to go over videos of sessions. I have conducted sessions with a co therapist for an entire family. I have done individual child centered play therapy and have created service plans, quarterly reports, session notes and termination summaries. I am 2/3 of the way finished with my Registered Play Therapist Certification. I supervisor all the the teachers and support staff in our building which is now up to 9 people. I meet weekly with each individual for supervision where we talk about what is going well, challenges and discuss progress towards performance goals. I complete monthly observations in the classroom where I provide feedback to staff on performance. I work with caregivers to help initiate and support the IEP process for those children that are exiting our program to ensure they have the best transition to kindergarten. I complete the aftercare program and follow up and support families once they transition out of our program and find additional resources if needed. I have worked hard to ensure many different learning tools and strateiges are implemented in our classrooms including Handwriting Without Tears, Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline and Feelings Buddies. Previous to working at FamilyForward I was the Director/Teacher of the off-site preschool program at Robinson Elementary School in the Kirkwood School District that is partially funded through a Missouri Preschool Project Grant. I helped get this program off the ground and have been a big part of the success. I have been through licensing, accreditation and ECERS visits. I have been nominated for teacher of the year two of the four years I have been working in Kirkwood.
