Nicole Mittmann, MSc, PhD, is a highly regarded scientist and health system leader who joined CADTH in May 2019. In her role on the executive team, she is helping CADTH realize its purpose of powering evidence-informed drug and health technology decisions in Canada.At CADTH Dr. Mittmann leads a diverse business unit that encompasses Publishing, Health Economics, Research Information Services, and Science and Methods, including Scientific Advice. She is also responsible for building upon the agency’s strong global networks with academia and representing CADTH both nationally and internationally.As advances in biomedical innovation continue at a rapid pace, Dr. Mittmann oversees the modernization of methods that is necessary to manage the uncertainty that arises with the advent of personalized medicine, artificial intelligence, real-world evidence, and more.With significant experience in leading, mentoring, and collaborating, Dr. Mittmann brings to CADTH unmatched scientific expertise and a commitment to harnessing the strengths of everyone on her team.CADTH is an independent, not-for-profit organization that is widely known as Canada’s trusted source of evidence, advice, and recommendations on the optimal use of drugs and medical devices in our health care systems. CADTH receives funding from Canada's federal, provincial, and territorial governments, with the exception of Quebec.In her academic capacity, Dr. Mittmann holds a faculty position at the University of Toronto in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and the Institute of Health, Policy, Management and Evaluation and is an Associate Scientist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She has conducted and collaborated on notable research in the areas of economic evaluations, outcomes research and drug/patient safety. Research methodologies include the examination of large databases, economic methodologies, health preference values and decision analysis. She remains an active researcher, with more than 180 peer-reviewed journal articles.
